that a person would lay down their life for the sake of their friends.”

There's little doubt that we live in a complex, often hazardous world.
Yet each and every day, there is a number of amazing individuals who set aside their own agendas, and stand gallantly in the face of persisting risk and prospective danger; all in the name of service to their country, their communities, and its members.
But the safety and security they produce, as well as the freedom to live, love, and prosper their efforts provide, certainly does not come without cost. And while it can't be readily measured in terms of dollars and cents, it's clear that our way of life here in Canada comes at an immense personal charge to these brave souls. From the uprooting themselves and their families over multiple moves to satisfy demand; to the innumerable amount of missed events/milestones and the sheer volume of invaluable time with family sacrifcied in the name of service, the selflessness displayed by these individuals is as expensive as it is laudable. Yet sadly, the cost of such valiance is often paid for with their respective well-being, as year after year, scores and scores of these noble men and women find themselves in varying levels of personal struggle (physical, emotional, psychological, etc.) ranging anywhere from moderate annoyances, up to situations and circumstances that could only be described as hell.
Undoubtedly due in large part to the resulting effects of the various exposure(s), experience(s) and trauma(s) encountered on their respective front lines, within this community of humanitarians there exists a disproportionate amount of relational discord and personal struggle. From unhealthy habits and addiction, to (un)diagnosed disorders and medical conditions, the list appears to expand without ceasing. And while the yearly number of reported incidents continues to ascend to epic proportions, you can rest assured, the number incidents which go unreported, likely eclipses those reported exponentially.
Most discouraging however, is that having given their best, many are left to face the enduring effects of their service life alone, feeling as though nobody will understand. And all too often, this feeling of "lonliness" is transcended into one of "hopelessness" and this once brave spirit is spiralled into a place of utter darkness; ultimately succumbing to extreme bouts of self-harm or worse still; suicide.
This is where I want to help
Having had the priviledge of serving our country for nearly a quarter-century as a member of the Canadian Forces, I've seen the effects a traumatic experience can have on an individual firsthand; having worked with many throughtout my career in varying capacities. I also acutely understand, and am sympathetic to the personal, relational, and familial difficulties and dynamics which most predominantly accompany a life devoted to service.
Thus, as a registered psychotherapist, it is my expressed goal to assist these families, whether serving or veteran, in any way I can; and would certainly revel in the opportunity to help you and yours find a measure of tranquility and prosperity in the often turbulent, yet extremely fulfilling career of protecting others.
Come lay your burdens down my friend; you are safe here!
**** As a bit of an aside, in addition to the variety of training and education I have acquired in order to qualify me to work in this field, I am now also in the process of becoming a certifed specialist in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); a modality that has shown great promise in reducing the long-term effects of various forms of trauma.
